Step By Step Stone Fire Pit Installation
The first step of building the stone fire pit is to determine the location, shape and size of the fire pit and then prepare the stone. The size would not only the diameter of the fire pit but also the height and depth that you desire. Otherwise, you would not be able to calculate the amount of stone that you will need for the project.
The next step of the stone fire pit is to prepare the base. This will take bit of time, but you need to make sure that everything is in place. The base may not be visible once the fire pit is built, but it has to be perfect. The size of the base will determine the size of the fire pits about to be built. If you make the wrong size of the base, then the fire pits would also be at the size that is not as planned. Use strings to indicate the limits of the base.
Step three of the stone fire pit installation is to mark the footing. The footing would be inside of the base. Use another string to mark the footing. The size should be the size of the base minus the thickness of the stones which will be the fire pit walls. Once the marking is completed, pour the footing. The footing is made of the premixed cement. Refer to the directions made of the manufacturer in order to create the footing. Spread the cement in the wall area between the outer marking and the footing marking.
And then, you need to lay the inner brick until the desired height before adding the stones at the outer wall to create the look of the stone fire pit. For the finishing touch, you can also create the seating arrangement around the fire pits by using cement and stones and then the fire pit is ready to be used.
